Graduating summa cum laude with national honors (National Honor Society for Dance Arts [NHSDA]) in Dance Education and Social Welfare from Bridgewater State University (2023), Lauren Gibson is a passionate and enthusiastic dance and movement educator, choreographer, and advocate. During her undergraduate career, she was a member of the National Dance Education Organization Student Chapter at BSU (NSO) serving as Public Relations Officer (2020-2021), Vice President (2021-2022), and President (2022-2023). During this time, Lauren was actively involved in the campus dance community, performing in and choreographing for departmental dance concerts as well as taking on the role of Stage Manager for Dance Kaleidoscope (2023). She also has work experience in costuming, theater and backstage management, and sound and light board operations. In addition, she was a member of the Bridgewater State University Dance Company performing and choreographing in their annual concerts. Lauren's lesson plans and classroom approaches are inspired by her research and studies in movement science, kinesiology, somatic principles, and dance methodology and pedagogy. Her most recent accomplishments include earning her Acrobatic Arts Module 1 (levels 1-6) Certification, NASM Stretch & Flexibility Coach Certification, and NASM-CPT (Certified Personal Trainer). She has over twenty years of dance training and experience comprised of Tap, Jazz, Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Lyrical, Contemporary, Hip Hop, Musical Theater, and Latin social dances, teaching many of these styles on both a recreational and competitive level. Lauren strives to teach students about the importance of bodily and spatial awareness relating to self and others. Her goal is to educate and emphasize the importance of anatomical safety in movement to promote lifelong movers.
